Departmentalizing/Co-Teaching
We are excited to use a team approach this year. Ms. Wade will teach a Math, Science, and Social Studies. Ms. Heitmeier will teach Reading and Language Arts. Your child will rotate with his/her homeroom. It is our hope that we can do more integrated projects within our content areas while utilizing our particular talents as teachers to benefit all of our students.
This year your child’s homeroom is also a co-taught classroom. This means that your child will have two teachers that will share the responsibilities of teaching all subjects. Mrs. DeCouto will co-teach with Ms. Wade and Ms. Heitmeier. With two teachers, the class will have a smaller student to teacher ratio. Also, your child will have more individualized instructional time in whole and small groups. Our class is composed of students of all learning levels. We are excited to be working together as co-teachers, and we are pleased to share in this experience with your child.
A good learning experience is built on a cooperative effort between parent, child, and teachers. Our expectations for conduct and standards for academic growth are high. With your participation in and out of the classroom we can look forward to a productive, creative, and fun year together. We are excited about this year and we hope we can work together to make it one of growth, discovery, and significance for your child.

Hello! My name is Lauren Heitmeier. I was born and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education. I began my teaching career in the fall of 2013 at Creek View. After teaching 5th grade for the last two years, I am excited to join the 1st grade team for the 2015-2016 school year! In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family, playing tennis, and cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs and Michigan State Spartans!
